- Overcoming Bias has a nice post about informational cascades, where informational inaccuracies ripple through the system. He explores this issue through Bayes rule.
- The Operations Room verifies what I figured out years ago: the best deals are often not on Black Friday.

- My home state of Illinois produces >90% of pumpkins eaten in the US. I had no idea that Illinois dominated in something other than soybeans! The rest of the article describes how much the drought will increase the prices of various kinds of food. For example, candy will be 3% more expensive this year.
- The Atlantic put together an infographic about how much a Bachelors degree is worth by major and industry. They report salaries for those whose highest degree is a Bachelors.
- CopyBlogger has a fun infographic about the history of social media on the internet, from the prehistoric era–they put a dinosaur prior to the first email being sent!–to now. It was a lot of fun to see usenet, classmates, friendster, and the first blog (in 1994) on the timeline.
